FAQ's

Question:

Will all players receive equal playing time?

Answer:

At the travel level it is sometimes necessary to change the lines to accommodate for certain situations in games. Our practices are executed in a way that all players will be taught the skills to be able to handle all the situations, but as is true in anything, some may grasp it faster than others. Players will improve throughout the season and it is our goal that they will ultimately receive equal playing time.

Question:

Will my son/daughter have to play a position he does not want to play?

Answer:

Our coaches will be able to assess each individual players strengths as the season progresses. We want all of our players to enjoy themselves and excel in the sport that they love.

Question:

What if my son/daughter must miss a practice?

Answer:

While missing practice is not ideal, we understand that our players are busy and have many commitments. Please contact your team manager at your earliest convenience so they can notify the coach.

Question:

Will my son/daughter have to sit out if he receives too many penalties?

Answer:

We encourage players to follow the rules and use proper judgment while playing. Unfortunately, there are some times where a penalty is unavoidable. If a child is regularly receiving unnecessary penalties, then yes, there will be repercussions to help correct their habit.

Question:

Will there be dedicated lines established?

Answer:

Yes there will be set lines. Lines will sometimes need to be changed during a game to compensate for missing players, injuries, or penalties.

Question:

What is your philosophy regarding playing time at tournaments?

Answer:

The same philosophy as with all games. Every player is equal on the team but there are good days and bad days for all. Coaches will make decisions according to what is going on in each game as they see fit.

Question:

What is your expectation regarding attendance?

Answer:

I expect all players to be at practice and at all games but understand that sometimes school and life prevents that from happening. I do expect players to notify their team managers when they will be missing a practice or game.

Question:

How is the locker room monitored to prevent horseplay?

Answer:

All players are required to sign a code of conduct at the beginning of the season. I expect my players to follow those rules and have respect for each other and their team at all times. Coaches will make their expectations known to their players. There will also be assigned locker room monitors

Question:

Will you train the boys how to be checked to minimize injury?

Answer:

Yes. Our practice plans include this at the appropriate levels. I will also have clinics throughout the season that will address different aspects of the game such as checking, defensive positioning and goalie training.

Question:

Does my child need to have a complete matching uniform?

Answer:

At the travel level it is preferred that all players match as much as possible. Matching uniforms builds team unity. For our 2014/2015 season all players must have white helmets, navy gloves and navy pants/shells.

Question:

My son/daughter needs additional help to improve what could he do?

Answer:

All players should establish a relationship with their coaches and communicate their concerns with them. Coaches can make suggestions to help correct any problems a player is having.

Question:

I understand we are on probationary period with the CHL, what does that mean and what happens for the 2014-2015 season?

Answer:

We have served our probationary peroid and will be granted full membership for the 2014-2015 season.

Question:

How many games are we targeting to play per season?

Answer:

32-44 games per season including tournament games.

Question:

Is there a time when the weekend schedule is set (for example, the Friday the preceding week)?

Answer:

Every effort will be made to have the schedule set as early as possible. Sometimes events are added as ice time becomes available. Last minute additions are not ideal, however they are sometimes necessary so as not to waste ice time.

Question:

How many tournaments do you target to play this season?

Answer:

4 at each age division

Question:

Once tryouts are over the team is set can other players be added?

Answer:

This can vary per team. If we have a full roster after tryouts, then typically I will not add players. If there is still room on a team, secondary tryouts may be necessary.

Question:

What is the proper stick for my child to have?

Answer:

This depends on the individual. Please feel free to ask any of our coaches for help in sizing equipment for your child. Coaches will notify parents of players if they believe that the player is not wearing/using the proper equipment for their size/experience.

100 plus hours of player development including practice ice, game ice, 4 tournament entry fees, referee fees, coaching fees, 2 off ice training sessions per month with Brown Strength, game socks and practice socks. Question:

How are the sponsorship dollars used by the organization?

Answer:

We are a non-profit organization therefore all donations and sponsorships are tax deductible. Each team can raise their own money to be used at their discretion.
